More on the Invention of the Cross

I previously noted how today's feast takes me back to Good Friday but it also takes me back to Holy Saturday and Easter Day. For on this day the Holy Cross which lay beneath the temple of Venus was raised from its burial site in the same way our Lord rose from the depths of the sepulcher. What is more the raising of the Holy Cross from beneath the temple of the pagan goddess of love seems to be a providential act proving who is the true god of love.
Crucem tuam adoramus, Domine: et sanctam resurrectionem tuam laudamus, et glorificamus: ecce enim propter lignum venit gaudium in universo mundo.
