Yet another thought has occurred to me on this the feast of St. Athanasius. Why is it that on liturgical calendars they have an abbreviation for a Doctor of the Church but not a Father of the Church? While the Fathers are a subset of the Doctors, nonetheless I think they should be distinguished. After all they are more frequently referred to as Fathers than Doctors.
