Amnesty or Attack

According to news reports Amnesty International is considering changing its policy on sexual and reproductive rights from a previous neutral position to include legal abortion as a human right. At the moment the organization is in a consultative phase, members being asked to submit comments on the proposed changes. However if Amnesty's criticism of the United States government for upholding the right to life and invitation to mainly 'pro-choice' groups at an earlier seminar on the issue is anything to go by, all this consultation may be in vain. So let us hope that Amnesty's members will do the right thing by opposing any such change and perhaps even call for abortion to be considered a violation of human rights.
